Hello! We’re getting ready to head on our way to Las Vegas for Easter to meet up with my family and attend this really cool concert/movie about my grandfather and his band. There’s the flyer below! If you’re in the Vegas area, stop by! I’ll be there, along with every single other Burnette.
Now, let’s talk about working out. Since Valentine’s Day, I have super stepped up working out and eating right. And so I wanted to share with you my three motivation tips that I have for the gym.
- Just Get There. I know that the couch is really comfy and so I will tell myself that if I get up and go, I only have to stay for a half hour. But once I get there and get going, I usually get into my workout and spend my 2 1/2 to 3 hours there. And once you go so often, the trainers or people at the gym recognize you and ask where you’ve been if you’ve taken a couple days or week off. (My gym actually emails you if you haven’t been for more than 10 days.) It’s nice to feel like people look for you and recognize when you aren’t there.
- Reward Yourself While You Are There: Do something you like while you’re on the treadmill or elliptical. Read a book that you only read when you go to the gym or watch a show on your phone you only watch at the gym. I’ve been doing that with Longmire the last couple weeks and it has gotten me to the gym because of cliffhangers! My next show to watch on the treadmill is VEEP. And the second part of rewarding yourself is by doing something you love at the gym. I love kickboxing but I’m only allowed to put on those gloves if I did my full cardio and weights workout beforehand.
- Set some rewards for when you reach your goals. So this is a pattern for me. It’s all about rewards for me: I want to see some return with the amount of time I’m putting in. So when I do see my body getting stronger and inches coming off and the scale dropping, I reward myself. In ways a lot of girls do. With super cute workout clothes. Or maybe for you it’s a weekend trip, or a dress, or shoes. You want to set yourself some rewards when you hit your goals.
I recommend that it not be food or a special meal. Because I don’t believe you should be telling yourself you can’t have something. That makes you want it even more and then not like the gym or trying to get in shape. I say don’t deny yourself, just have it in moderation. Like if you love chocolate cake (guilty right here), have three bites. Then wait a bit and see if you really want more or want to wait till tomorrow.
Here are going to be the things that I pick up of super cute work gear in the future!
The Align Pants from Lululemon! Now I read all the reviews and see that they had problems with pilling, but one of my favorite bloggers who has them said that she has had them for months and avoided that problem. Because she hand washes them. Which makes sense. They’re $98 leggings, they don’t get thrown in with everything else. They’re like really nice jeans, you treat them better than the Target or American Eagle leggings (side note though-American Eagle leggings are amazing. The Chill Hi-Rise are my favorite).
This Sports Bra! I have been loving living in sports bras lately. And I really want some pretty ones. With details like fancy straps or pretty colors.
And this cardigan for relaxing in my workout clothes for when my workout clothes become athleisure clothes. Because that happens to other people right?
